About Coach Winnie

Coach Winnie
"My deep passion for personal freedom provides the stamina I need to succeed.”

Affectionately called “Winnie” by her family, friends, and clients, alike, Winifred Quire Giddings coaches women to define and achieve success on their own terms. “Many women simply need a boost,” says Winnie. “They can figure out what they want in life, but simply need a coach, or mentor on the journey to success.”

Trained as a Certified Professional Coach through Compass, Winnie also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Family Life Education from Spring Arbor College and a Masters in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. She attained her license in Counseling, and is also a trained professional therapist with substantial experience working on-one-one with individuals, groups and managing several teams in the human services field.

Currently, Winnie coaches professional women — executives and entrepreneurs — that seek more meaningful success in their work, family, and personal lives. Her enthusiastic personality and natural expressiveness make her an inspiring speaker, and she enjoys presenting workshops and seminars. She has a particular expertise in coaching health care professionals, because she shares a background in their field.

As a single, divorced mother and caregiver to her elderly mother, Winnie knows how easy it is to lose your inner self and identity to care giving roles. Using lessons learned and experience gained from her own personal journey, she now guides other women to help them regain joy, confidence, self-care and self-respect.

“I want to have a positive impact on the quality of other women’s lives, to help them find and celebrate their true selves,” explains Coach Winnie. Her education, training, professional experience and international exposure provide her a strong foundation and the unique skills to help women who have lost themselves to finally fulfill their dreams.

Blending wisdom, experience, enthusiasm, insight, and humor, Coach Winnie inspires women to be transformed through key changes in their perceptions of themselves, others and the world. She helps her clients change fear, frustration, and self-sabotage into positive patterns of thought, emotions and behavior that support the realization of their deepest desires.

In 2009, Coach Winnie started Perception Matters, a personal development company that provides coaching services, life change materials, and transformative workshops for modern professional women. Her mission is to equip, inspire, teach and encourage, but more importantly, empower her clients. This is done by helping them develop the skills necessary to increase their self-awareness and self-mastery. In practical terms, this means encouraging her clients to say what they mean with confidence, and take their personal and professional lives to the next level and beyond.

Coach Winnie created a program that any woman can use to find her individual path to her true voice. Winnie emphasizes that “Each Woman has a Voice”. She helps each of her clients learn how to deliver their message clearly, consistently and boldly. Instead of feeling helpless and broken, women find that this personal message is about self discovery and personal freedom. ”Any woman can decide to give herself permission to create and experience total life transformation and use her voice to tell her unique story”, explains Coach Winnie.

Winnie's Story

“My deep passion for personal freedom provides the stamina I need to succeed.” When I moved from Liberia, West Africa to the United States 22 years ago, I learned and embraced American culture, while still appreciating the cultural values and family principles that were instilled in me as a child.

Through a difficult marriage, divorce, single motherhood with no immediate family support, job loss, and the loss of my father, I was able be resilient, finding courage, self-reliance, resourcefulness, determination and perseverance. Yet I still had not accomplished my goals, and I struggled to believe in myself and become the leader I wanted to be.

Everything changed for me the day I decided to hire a personal life coach to help me reconnect with what I felt I truly desired and deserved. Through the work, guided by my coach, I discovered how my self perception played a powerful role in the daily obstacles I encountered. I also saw how self doubt and my inner critic kept getting in the way of living the life I truly desired.

Once I began to recognize the self-sabotaging thoughts and unhealthy behaviors, I worked on them, one by one. The more I worked on changing my perceptions, and related actions, the more self-confident and focused I became. I stopped procrastinating and started doing what it takes to get positive results.

Excited by the progress I saw in myself, I was getting more done than I had ever accomplished before. I realized that for the first time, I was clear about what I wanted to do, and confident that I could do it. I wanted to have the same positive impact on the lives of others.

I made a commitment to learn everything I could about self-discovery. I read every book I could get my hands on, sought further training and certification, and over time, accumulated substantial experience — all the while increasing my skill at listening to and staying true to my own authentic voice.

Now my life is full of meaning in a way I never thought it could be. I find joy in each day as I share my unique personal journey with my clients, communicating a message of hope, education, and transformation. And I am blessed to coach women to becoming their best selves.
